UCF’s Olivia Bergler (women’s) and TCU’s Cosme Rolland De Ravel (men’s) were tabbed as the Big 12 Tennis Athletes of the Week for matches through March 15.
Bergler helped secure the doubles point with her partner, Lauren Seye, defeating Colorado’s Rixt van der Werff and Lera Alexin, 6-3. From the top singles court, the sophomore won against the Buffs’ Aya El Sayed in straight sets, 6-0, 6-4. During the weekend slate against the Red Raiders, Bergler helped lead the Knights to victory by defeating TTU’s Hailey Murphy, 7-5, 6-3. This is Bergler’s first Conference weekly accolade.
On the men’s side, Rolland De Ravel posted a 5-0 record for the week. The senior paired with Duncan Chan to clinch the doubles points against No. 22 Florida (7-5) and No. 12 Georgia (6-2). The No. 36-ranked Rolland De Ravel earned two ranked wins, dispatching the Gators No. 50-ranked Henry Jefferson, 6-7 (1), 6-2, 6-0, and the Bulldogs No. 32-ranked Arda Azkara in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. Opening Conference play, the No. 8-ranked Horned Frogs duo of Rolland De Ravel and Chan defeated the Red Raiders’ Niksa Arsic and Thiago Guglieri, helping clinch the doubles point, 6-3, en route to TCU’s 4-0 victory over Texas Tech.
