Florida State and TCU Lead Field After Day One of Big 12 Beach Volleyball Championship

TUCSON, Ariz. – Thursday’s pool play opener of the 2026 Big 12 Beach Volleyball Championship presented by Allstate saw Florida State and TCU post 2-0 records to advance to the second day as the top seeds. The Horned Frogs and Seminoles also earned byes in the first round of the single elimination bracket on Friday by winning their respective pools.

Arizona State and South Carolina split their two matches on Thursday. The Sun Devils defeated in-state rival Arizona 4-1, while South Carolina downed Boise State 4-1.

Friday’s action begins at 11 a.m. CT when South Carolina faces Arizona before Arizona State takes on Boise State at 12:15 p.m. CT. The winner between the Gamecocks and Wildcats will go on to face No. 1 seed Florida State with the winner of the second match set to take on No. 2 seed TCU.

All matches will be played at Bear Down Beach at the University of Arizona and will be available on ESPN+.

Florida State Seminoles
FSU, the No. 1 overall seed, dispatched both Boise State and South Carolina by a score of 4-1. The Seminoles won points on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts in both of their victories on Thursday. Florida State quickly claimed the first two points of the match versus Boise State, before dropping a point, and finished the match with a 21-15, 21-13 victory on the final court.

Florida State followed the same blueprint in its win over No. 4 seed South Carolina in the afternoon, claiming four points in straight sets. They opened with an impressive victory on the No. 1 court by a score of 21-14 and 20-16 and never looked back.

TCU Horned Frogs
As the No. 2 overall seed, TCU downed Arizona and Arizona State with 4-1 decisions. Morgan Williams and Sofia Izuzquiza put the Horned Frogs on the board first, before Arizona evened the score behind Ashlyn Ziliken and Madeline Walker. TCU took the remaining three matches to grab its first win of the tournament.

TCU won three of its four points versus the Sun Devils in straight sets, including wins on the top three courts.
