Record-Setters Earn Week Three Awards

Record-breaking performances in week three of the 2020 indoor track & field season earned Baylor’s KC Lightfoot, Kansas’ Gleb Dudarev and Texas’ Julien Alfred Big 12 weekly recognition.

Lightfoot picks up his second-consecutive and third-career indoor Men’s Athlete of the Week honor after becoming the 11th men’s pole vaulter in collegiate history to clear 19 feet indoors. He jumped 19’ 0.25” (5.80m) to break his own school record in addition to attaining the Olympic qualifying standard. He also maintained his No. 1 spot in the NCAA this season, improving upon his own national-leading height.

Dudarev unleashed an 80-foot weight throw (24.38m) in his 2020 debut, tallying the best mark in the NCAA since 2015. His throw is over six feet longer than the next-best performer in the nation this season. He earns his fourth-career weekly indoor award, one shy of tying the Conference’s all-time record.

Alfred sprinted two blistering marks last weekend, garnering her the Women’s Athlete of the Week accolade for the first time in her career. She logged a school-best 7.10 time in the 60m dash and an event-winning 23.50 mark in the 200m. She leads the NCAA in the 60m dash this season as the seventh-fastest collegian in NCAA history. For her efforts, Alfred was named the USTFCCCA’s NCAA Division I Women’s National Athlete of the Week as well.
