Kansas State Leads After Day One of Big 12 ITF Championship

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Kansas State programs lead the 2026 Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Championship at the end of the opening day.

With six events completed on the men’s side, Kansas State amassed 62 points to sit at the top of the leaderboard. Kansas follows in second place with 29 points, Iowa State and Oklahoma State both have 27 points and Cincinnati rounds out the top five with 26 points. 

The Wildcat women end Friday with 48.5 points, with Oklahoma State (40) and Iowa State (31.5) finishing in the top three. BYU and Texas Tech join the top five with 23 and 22.5 points apiece.

Molly Haywood successfully defended her pole vault title, clearing 4.50 meters, becoming the second Baylor woman to do so since 2016.

BYU swept the distance medley relay titles as Jenna Hutchins anchored the Cougars, crossing the line with an 11:11.95, finishing nine seconds ahead of Oklahoma State. The Cougar men captured the DMR title with a time of 9:35.98.

Cincinnati’s Juliette Laracuente-Huebner earned her second Big 12 title by clinching the women’s pentathlon, totaling 4,437 points for the Bearcats. For the men, Nickson Kogei became the first Cincinnati men’s runner to earn an indoor Conference title, as he clocked a 13:43.83 in the 5,000 meters.

Iowa State’s Mercyline Kirwa earned her first Big 12 title in the women’s 5,000 crossing the line with a time of 15:51.88.

In the men’s pole vault, Kansas’ Anthony Meacham claimed gold with a mark of 5.65 meters.

Texas Tech’s Temitope Adeshina recorded a 1.96-meter mark in the women’s high jump, breaking a 17-year-old record to claim her title.

Kansas State swept both the weight throw and the long jump. Maud Zeffou-Poaty leaped 6.62 meters, while Uroy Ryan jumped 7.90 meters, becoming the first Wildcats to earn the Big 12 indoor long jump titles since the 2016 season. Kade McCall was the final athlete on Friday evening to earn his title in the weight throw with a toss of 22.63 meters, as Monique Hardy won the women’s side with a throw of 21.89 meters.

K-State’s Devin Loudermilk won his first Big 12 title as a Wildcat, claiming his second men’s high jump title after clearing 2.25 meters.

Saturday’s schedule begins with the men’s heptathlon at 10 a.m. CT on ESPN+.
