UH and TTU Earn Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Honors

Houston’s Cordell Nwokeji (co-men’s), Texas Tech’s DeSean Boyce (co-men’s) and Alyssa Colbert (women’s) were named the Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week.

At the Victor Lopez Classic, Nwokeji placed first in the shot put with a toss of 19.55 meters. The throw set a new personal best for the junior and he now leads the Big 12. It also marks his first Conference award.

Boyce opened his outdoor season in the 400 meters, winning the event with a time of 45.32. The senior’s time leads the Big 12 while his time places him second in the nation. This is Boyce’s first Big 12 weekly accolade.

On the women’s side, Colbert won the women’s 100 meters, crossing the line with a wind-aided time of 10.99 at the Masked Rider Open. The senior leads both the Big 12 and the nation with her time. This is Colbert’s first Big 12 weekly award.
