BYU and Texas Tech Advance to Big 12 Women’s Tennis Tournament Quarterfinals

ORLANDO, Fla. - No. 9 BYU and No. 10 Texas Tech advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2026 Big 12 Women’s Tennis Tournament presented by Allstate with wins on Wednesday afternoon at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida. The Cougs will face No. 1 seed UCF at 6 p.m. ET, while the Lady Raiders will take on No. 2-seeded Arizona State at 3 p.m. ET.

No. 9 BYU 4, No. 8 Utah 2
Utah claimed the doubles point with wins on courts one and three. Emma Kamper and Sara Akid earned a 6-1 win at No. 1, while Emmie Moore and Kaila Barksdale clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 victory on court three.

In singles, BYU fought back by taking four of the five completed matches. Akid tallied her second point of the day, taking the first singles point, 6-2, 6-3, putting Utah up 2-0. Sage Bergeson (6-2, 6-2) and Gracie Levelston (6-3, 6-2) evened the match, earning points for the Cougars. Sue Yan Tan (6-3, 6-4) gave BYU their first lead of the day. Bella Lewis (7-5, 6-2) clinched the match, sending the Cougars to the quarterfinals.

No. 10 Texas Tech 4, No. 7 Houston 1
Texas Tech secured the doubles points with wins from courts one and two. No 83-ranked Hailey Murphy and Yekaterina Dmitrichenko posted a 6-1 victory from the top court, while Elena Daskalova and Mariia Hlahola clinched the point with a 6-3 win.

In singles, Sophie Schouten (6-2, 6-2) evened the match for Houston, claiming the first point. Dmitrichenko (6-4, 6-2) and Havana Kadi (6-3, 6-0) pushed the match to 3-1. Murphy (6-3, 6-4) claimed her second point of the day, sealing the victory for the Lady Raiders.
