Kansas’ Anthony Meacham and Oklahoma State’s women’s 4x800 Meter Relay team were named as the Big 12 Track and Field athletes of the week for meets through April 27.
Meacham won the John McDonnell Invitational Pole Vault title with a height of 5.80 meters (19-0.25 ft). The senior tied his national-best mark on his first attempt, defeating the NCAA Indoor National Champion Ashton Barkdull. Meacham is the first Big 12 men’s track and field athlete to earn two weekly accolades this season.
On the women’s side, Kadence Huck, Elyse Wilmes, Kaylie Politza and Billah Jepkirui set a NCAA-leading time of 8:16.65 in the 4x800 meter relay at the 116th Drake Relays. The quartets’ mark places them second in the NCAA all-time record book, finishing five-tenths of a second off the NCAA all-time record.
