The Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Championships return to Baylor's Hart-Patterson Track & Field Complex on May 12-14. The Bears previously hosted the postseason affair in 1997 and 99.

This is the sixth site in the conference's 10-year history to sponsor the outdoor championships. Other locations include R.V. Christian Track Complex in Manhattan, Kan. (2005); John Jacobs Field in Norman, Okla. (2004); Mike A. Myers Stadium and Soccer Field in Austin, Texas (2003); Frank G. Anderson Track and Field Complex in College Station, Texas (2001); Audrey J. Walton Track-Soccer Stadium in Columbia, Mo.(1998, 2000, 02).

In 2005, the Texas Tech men claimed its first track & field league title (indoor and outdoor), while the Nebraska women's squad earned its second outdoor crown.

The Husker men lead all teams with the most Big 12 championships at four (1998, 2000, 02, 04) followed by Texas with three crowns (1997, 99, 2003), while Texas A&M clinched the 2001 title.

Defending national champion Texas paces the women's field with five championships (1997-99, 2003-04). Kansas State trails the Longhorns with two (2001-02) while Nebraska has one (2000).
