ARLINGTON, Texas – No. 4 Oklahoma State (39-19) defeated No. 5 Texas (41-18) 8-1 in game 11 of the 2022 Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship.
 
The Cowboys struck first when Jake Thompson hit a two-RBI home run to go up 2-0 in the first inning. 
 
OSU enforced their lead with four more runs in the second inning. Roc Riggio scored Ian Daugherty on a one-RBI double. Thompson drove in Zach Ehrhard and Riggio with a two-RBI double. Griffin Doersching squeezed in another run for the Cowboys, bringing Thompson home on a one-RBI single.
 
In the fourth inning, Oklahoma State’s Ehrhard scored when David Mendham was walked to extend the Cowboys' lead to a 7-0.
 
Caeden Trenkle racked up another run for OSU in the fifth inning, scoring Marcus Brown on a one-RBI single.
 
Texas’ freshmen pitchers Joshua Stewart and Travis Sthele managed to hold the Cowboys at eight runs through the next three innings. Mitchell Daly capitalized with a one-RBI double in the ninth to put the Longhorns on the scoreboard before OSU’s Trevor Martin put the game away.
 
Oklahoma State’s offense leads all teams at the Big 12 Championship hitting 41-for-106 (.387). Riggio and Doersching are tied for the tournament lead with 10 total bases.
 
Sophomore Ryan Bogusz (W, 3-0) threw a career-high eight innings for the Cowboys, giving up five hits and just one run before being relieved in the ninth by Martin. Bogusz tied his career-high fanning five batters.
 
Sophomore Zane Morehouse (L, 3-1) pitched two innings and struck out four batters, giving up seven hits and six runs before being relieved by junior Daniel Blair.
 
Oklahoma State will face Texas again for a spot in the title game later today at 4 p.m. CT on Big 12 Now ESPN+.
